Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 Canon EF (7970201) tele-zoom lens represents a full evolution of the highly acclaimed 70-200mm Model A009 with enhanced optical performance, improved VC (Vibration Compensation), faster AF speed and accuracy, plus a shortened MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 95cm, for greater flexibility. What’s more, compatibility with Tamron teleconverters and the new Tap-in Console provides additional benefits.
Every aspect of the SP 70-200mm F/2.8 G2 zoom has been improved, providing enhanced image quality and improved bokeh for spectacular background effects. Optical design features include XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) glass to eliminate chromatic aberrations across the entire zoom range, ensuring optimum resolution – even at the edges. eBAND Coating designed exclusively for this new Zoom offers superior anti-reflection properties, greatly minimising flare and ghosting.
The USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ring-type motor, along with two high-performance microcomputers, ensures excellent focusing speed and accuracy. The Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to make fine adjustments while using AF, without having to switch from AF to MF mode.
Tamron’s best-in-class VC image stabilisation performance is equivalent to 5 stops (CIPA standards). This lens offers a choice of three VC modes, including one exclusively for panning. Now you can match the VC mode to your shooting conditions and enjoy sharp, judder-free handheld shooting, even in low light.
The surface of the front lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water and oil-repellent. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture, and fingerprints.
Ideal for use in outdoor photography, SP 70-200mm G2 offers Moisture-Proof and Dust-Resistant Construction, thanks to special moisture-proof and dust-resistant sealants used at every joint and seam. The sealant material helps to prevent the intrusion of any dirt, dust, or water droplets compared to conventional moisture-resistant construction.
An electromagnetic diaphragm system, which has been a standard feature for Canon-mount lenses, has been employed in Nikon-mount lenses. More precise diaphragm and aperture control is possible because the diaphragm blades are driven and controlled by a motor through electronic pulse signals.
A new textured grip and Arca-Swiss style tripod interface enhance both speed and utility. Because the tripod mount is made of lightweight magnesium, it is much easier to carry.

Free Collection is available at our showroom in Hampton, please select this option at the payment stage at the checkout. Please allow one hour to pick and prepare your order for you so it is ready for you when you arrive. Next Working Day Delivery
UK mainland orders placed before 2 pm will be dispatched the same day for next-day delivery. To qualify for next-day delivery orders must be placed before 2 pm Mon – Thur. Orders placed after 2 pm Thursday will be dispatched Friday for Monday delivery, excluding Bank Holidays. The charge for this service is £12.00 plus VAT. This service is only available for products that are in stock.
Saturday Delivery
Order before 2pm on Friday for Saturday deliveries. Saturday delivery cost £27.50 including VAT – this is only for the UK mainland.
